The Artist

Billy Criswell has been many things in life: actor, salesman, restauranteur. In his mid-40's he threw caution to the wind and embarked on a career in the arts. Since then he's become a prominent painter, printmaker and sculptor with works in private collections, galleries and museums around the world. When I think of Billy, two moments come to mind. The first was when he was hiking with his dog Buster in the mountains and Buster was bitten by a rattlesnake. Billy gathered his 40 lb. dog in his arms and literally ran down the mountain to save Buster's life. The second was post-Katrina when Billy flew to New Orleans with a group of animal lovers and helped rescue dozens of abandoned pets. Today, Billy continues his dog rescue efforts in Los Angeles working with a dog adoption agency. When I last saw him, he exited his home with 6 leashed dogs in tow. (4" x 6", black ink print)
